Fashion week spring summer 2019 season has over and left us with a somewhat bittersweet taste in terms of trends. What was the great novelty? Mainly the guerrilla trend bets where we saw the soft return of the Elizabethan Gothic, an eighties punk in Milan. meanwhile, some occasional pop that passed with more grief than glory but that will undoubtedly mark a more theatrical precedent than useful for the coming seasons.

In fact, the S/S 2019 season was a confirmation of the trends that have been vibrating for a couple of months and the challenge of a long useful life for the vortex of the fashion lover that screams for dynamism.

What were the 6 trends that were most repeated in the S/S 2019? Here our review

Bold Colors
The renewed aesthetics of the 80’s giving way to strong colors returning to the catwalks and fashion showcases. Vibrant and fresh, hard colors that renew classic and predominant styles. No doubt the vibrant colors are here to stay.

Patterns (maybe too many)
Versatile patterns and prints were taken on the runways of New York, Milan, London, and Paris. The variety took the season: games of daily inspiration with ethnic/tribal patterns like those seen in Balmain, fibers, and colors in the proposal of Thom Browne or the geometric games of soft lines and strong colors of Chanel. The proposals of Cavalli, Etro’s, Marni’s, Iceberg’s, Moschino and Versace are not left out either.

Pastels & Plastics
A new version of the pastel nuances: now, the contrast with geometry and design achieves greater strength with these palettes. Striking, with subtle but powerful lines, pastel tones are reinventing themselves from the rebelliousness of design and contrast, moving away from the “feminine type” to which we are all accustomed. An upgrade? If it’s plastic, better. this was shown by Emilia Wickstead’s, Alexa Chung and Roland Mouret

Neutrals
As a counterpoint to the solid colors, the neutrals are gaining ground especially in the unitone proposals for this spring. Firms such as Chanel, Valentino, Stella McCartney, Mugler, the Rochas, Uma Wang, ACNE or Dior opted for the nuances of “Soybean”, “Sweet Corn” and “Brown Granite” by Pantone.

Polka Dots
Ok, It was to be expected, the polka dot isone of the trends that always been present, and – obviously- this season made clear its versatility on the catwalk. From the classic Italian black & white of Dolce & Gabbana through the deconstruction of Marni’s or Moschino to the subtlety of Prada or Giorgio Armani. A game of pattern, color, and textures that never ends.

Netting
It is not surprising that with the increase in the handcraft scene and slow fashion, netting takes center stage this season with Fyodor Golan’s, JW Anderson, Nicholas Kirkwood’s, Nicopanda’s and Victoria Beckham’s. In Milan, we find it with a variation of fishing with Armani or Calcaterra’s.
